On December 28, 1958 my Grandfather died of heart attack while on holidays in his residence in Binan, Laguna. He died at the age of 71.

 

The town of Binan gave him a military funeral only given to a National Hero. Since the government officials could not decide on what flag to drape his coffin, it was decided that it should be half Philippine flag and the other half, an American flag.

 

During his funeral, the then Congressman Ferdinand Marcos was among the Philippine officials who walked the streets of Binan, Laguna up to the interment in the cemetery of his hometown.
